Recently I had a chance to catch up with the great folks at Beacon Coffee. Beacon Coffee is a full force roasting house that produces some of the best artisan coffee around. As a serious coffee aficionado, I tend to be very picky when it comes to getting my daily caffeine fix. Well ever since our first bag of Iron & Resin beans hit the shelf, I haven't had anything else to drink.

When you first walk in to their operation, you are hit with an aroma that is unrivaled to anything else you may have ever smelled. It's an aromatic sensory overload to say the least. The delectable, robust and warming smells had my mouth salivating in minutes. Amongst the massive burlap bags full of unroasted imported raw coffee beans from places like Nicaragua and Costa Rica, is a shiny roaster; the heart of the operation. I watched as the roaster churned the beans inside a drum at temperatures over 400°. With a number of factors contributing to the degree of roasting, it is imperative that the internal bean temperature is monitored and the color is observed throughout the roasting. I would say Beacon has this part down pat!

Much like working on a bike or building a surfboard, the art of roasting is a true science and requires a great love for what you are doing. After meticulously checking roasted bean samples and taste testing every new batch of imported beans, let me assure you that the guys over at Beacon are not only passionate about every bag of coffee they pack but they have also mastered the art of roasting unlike anyone else.

Iron & Resin x Beacon Coffee offers a little bit of everything and I assure that you won't be disappointed in a bag. If you aren't sure what roast to get, grab one based on your favorite bike. After all the blends are named appropriately; The Tracker, The Café, The Chopper and The Scrambler.
