During our travels around Europe last season, we crossed paths with Sandmann, a boot-maker who builds the most beautiful, handmade boots out of a family owned factory in Spain that has been making boots for generations. Right then, we knew we had to do something with them. The exclusive Sandmann x InR Quartermaster boot is Goodyear welted with a leather and rubber outsole, with uppers made from a beautiful, veg tanned, pull-up cowhide and our own 15 oz. Shelter Cloth waxed canvas. The insole is made from oak-tanned cowhide and calfskin lined. Incredibly comfortable and built for a lifetime of adventures.

The Quartermaster is built from the finest components to withstand the harshest environments while providing you with maximum support and comfort.

When put together, they create the ultimate shoe. Welted and completely renewable to be your faithful companion for as long as possible.

The Nitty Gritty:

  • Ankle Height: 6 inches

  • Leather frame: The 360 degree frame withstands extreme loads and is also the attachment base for the leather rubber sole. This also makes possible repairs much easier.

  • Cork layer: The soft, flexible cork mixture under the insole adapts perfectly to the contours of your foot while walking.

  • Insole: To ensure high sweat absorption and rapid evaporation, the insole is made of oak-tanned leather.

  • Inner lining: The Quartermaster is lined with leather, which ensures sweat absorption, foot comfort and long-term wear.

How It Fits:

Boots run a size large so we suggest you size down 1 size smaller than your normal size. Example if you're a 9.5 normally, order an 8.5.

Wash & Care

Caring for Hand-Knit Cotton:

Cotton is more forgiving than wool but still benefits from gentle handling, especially in hand-knit form where the stitch structure is more open and delicate.

  • Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, or use a machine’s delicate/hand-wash cycle in a mesh laundry bag.
  • Cotton can handle slightly warmer water than wool, but keep it under 40°C to preserve color and shape.
  • Lay flat to dry just as you would with wool. Cotton knits can stretch when hung wet.
  • A cool iron on the reverse side can refresh the fabric if needed — avoid ironing directly on textured stitches.
