Where did the inspiration, or idea, of IRON CLOTH come from?

We've always been downright fascinated with the classic, simple pieces of the past. Traditional minimalism is a good term for it. It's that inspiration of heritage fabrics, you know, the stuff that's been working for 50+ years. The simply tried-and-true.

Remember the 60/40 parkas from the 60s? Probably not, but we do and that's why we're motivated to hit the mark on the next evolution of traditional: the old way in a new way.

And that's where IRON CLOTH steps in: a solution for a traditional and minimalist piece of clothing, and if you know our brand and products, that's what we've always been all about. Why pack more, or buy more, when you can get away with less? That's a win-win for all in the long run.

Iron & Resin Built With Iron Cloth Logo

We developed IRON CLOTH for our needs of having useful garments that perform day-in-and-day-out, year round, and without the look that they should only be used at the highest peaks in North America. And we get it, there are garments specifically made for that, but that's not our day-in-and-day-out style. But in short, it is a superior fabric for all types of outdoor adventures.

Just like the 60/40 Parkas of the past, it uses a finely woven blend of 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton that creates the perfect micro canvas. That very densely woven canvas is then impregnated with a proprietary blend of natural waxes. Not petroleum based, natural.

What takes form? A wind and water resistant, lighter, more wearable, more breathable fabric than waxed canvas, plus there's minimal cleaning needed. Again, we wanted to have a fabric that is multifunctional and durable: pack the bag for the weekend for a no plans, all environments trip. It's our version of the next evolution of traditional and timeless.

Why use IRON CLOTH?

There are many reasons why someone should consider a piece of clothing built with IRON CLOTH. Any product built with this fabric is going to be an ideal resistance piece for layering against variable conditions. That could be rain, wind, you name it.

Check out these brand new products that have just been released for this season:

- Port Jacket -

The Port Jacket is an outerwear layer packable for any damn reason. Rain, fog, dew, wind, hail, you name it - it's up for anything. Great outerwear piece that can be used as a shell to withstand the variable conditions on the road to Baja or trekking the PCT in the PNW. You choose.

- Donner Shirt -

The Donner Shirt isn't just a shirt. Don't let those devilish looks fool you. This thing is lined with an 8 oz. 100% recycled polyester micro fleece, so there's an automatic warmth factor as soon as you throw it on. Put this on for dawn patrol (or dusk) and close it up tightly with the heavy duty YKK front zipper, plus the custom Iron & Resin metal shank buttons, and you'll be good to go.

- Nomad Pant -

Like the name implies, the Nomad Pant was build to wander. Especially when space in your bag is at a premium and versatility is key, you can log some miles in the city or the coastline without having to walk bow legged at the back of the crew. These have a 34" inseam with a 14" leg opening, so easy to go over the boots or to roll up for the city scene.

- Tamarack Fleece -

The hardwearing Tamarack Fleece is built for warmth and comfort, especially when the forecast is looking bleak. Made from 100% Polyester Shearling Sherpa Fleece, it's the first thing you'll reach for after waking up on the cold hard ground. We've layered IRON CLOTH in key areas of abuse: shoulders, hood, chest pocket and sleeves. It's a great layer for any type of freedom adventure.

Not convinced IRON CLOTH would do you good? Here are the few important reasons why we dig it:

1. Weather resistant: highly wind, water, hail, you name it resistant - a dynamic piece for those variable conditions.

2. Natural: not petroleum based, natural - it uses our own proprietary blend of natural waxes.

3. Lightweight: it's a more wearable, more breathable fabric than waxed canvas - low-weight-to-fabric ratio.

4. Multi-functional: extremely durable and versatile fabric - from mountain to pub, perfect for many climates and environments.

5. Timeless: inspiration took form by using heritage fabrics - what's been working for 50+ years, rather then "fabric of the future" - it's simply tried-and-true.

The chances are, any piece with IRON CLOTH, you'll likely have it in your closet for the next twenty years.
