The Moto Collection

updated for Spring '23

purpose built provisions have always been a part of Iron & Resin. it all started back with our Rambler Jacket many years ago. well, we realized we were long past due to launch a radical line of armored motorcycle outerwear. from the demanding desert trails of Death Valley to the winding Devil's Tail in the PNW, we developed this brand new line of moto-centric outerwear to meet the needs of all riders out there.

desert racers, road warriors, vintage MX rippers, you name it. no matter what kind of riding you do, we all know that protection is a no-joke-game. the hard-packed loins of Mother Earth lurk in the shadows of each rock, bump and crevice of the road, waiting to greet us ever so kindly with the taste of impact. we built The Moto Collection for reassurance of protection - both physically and mentally - because protection is one of the best riding companions one can have.

Inspired By The Past

Inspired By The Past

we have always loved the classic look and feel of the gear our fathers and grandfathers used back in the day. however, with those vintage pieces, we were always having to tailor them for a more modern fit that worked for us. at the same time, the modern, technical motorcycle gear that was available may have checked-off some of our boxes in terms of fit and function, but left something to be desired when it came to style and form.

the early desert and enduro racers of the '50s and '60s adapted rugged hunting and alpine jackets, because the fabrics were typically windproof and water resistant. they'd also hold up to the occasional crash. they were actually lighter weight than heavy leather motorcycle jackets, so you can imagine why many used them.

those early jackets featured multiple large pockets that allowed riders to carry water, gloves, goggles, maps and any other carry items for a cross country ride or race. soon enough, jacket manufacturers were adding features specifically for motorcyclists like quilted padding around the shoulders, elbows and backsides of their jackets.

you can still find many of these jackets around today, a testament to the quality of the materials and craftsmanship of the day. this is why we love the nostalgic times of the past and why we strive to do exactly what they were doing at the time: quality built, serves a purpose, and lasts a lifetime.

each piece has been built from 12oz Halley Stevensons waxed cotton canvas out of Scotland. they've been engineering waxed canvas since 1864, so we're confident to say they're experts in that textile field (that's over 150 years!). the 12oz waxed cotton canvas material from Halley Stevensons has been developed to withstand harsh weather conditions in the rain and wind, making it a perfect outerwear layer. they literally began developing authentic waxed cotton fabrics for fisherman and farmers alike. can you imagine the wet weather conditions of fishermen out in the open ocean? that's the type of weather barrier characteristics we are looking for in a riding jacket.

we also added a REISSA® lightweight membrane layer between the outer shell and interior liner for additional water proofing and wind proofing characteristics. this lining is throughout the jacket and travels all the way to the cuffs at the wrist, which can be adjusted by multiple snap buttons. it's a great extra barrier for that spot right between the gloves and the cuff of the jacket. plus, in addition to all of that, we added a removable quilted insulating liner to the interior of every jacket in our Moto Collection.

every jacket in The Moto Collection comes standard with insertable - and removable - D3O® CE protection armor. that's an abbreviation for "Conformité Européenne," which is a European motorcycle safety standard. there are two levels of protection: Level 1 and Level 2. Level 2 is the highest. our back armor is Level 2. our shoulder, elbow/extended arm protectors in these jackets are CE Level 1, as these areas are usually only required to have CE Level 1. if you're located in the North America, the CE standards have been unofficially adopted, but obviously not required by law for street use. however, if you were to go on a race track, the CE mark is necessary...
