Ranger Jacket

$ 459.00
Description

Developed out of 12 oz Halley Stevensons waxed cotton canvas from Scotland, the Ranger Jacket is one-hell-of-a riding jacket. Like all of our outerwear jackets in The Moto Collection for Spring '23, this jacket was built with a specific purpose of offering maximum rider protection, functionality, style, and comfort all year round.

Updated with a removable poly filled quilted insulating liner this jacket truly can carry the weight from Summer heat to Winter cold. Pair that with removable CE Level 2 back armor, along with CE Level 1 shoulder and elbow armor, when you throw this jacket on you can feel a level of protection that we worked hard to develop. For those really variable weather conditions, we inserted a breathable REISSA fabric barrier between the exterior and interior lining that creates a lightweight waterproof and windproof membrane. With a number of pockets on the exterior, this is any rider's dream jacket... whether that be for rides in the PNW or the desert.

12oz Halley Stevensons Canvas

each piece has been built from 12oz Halley Stevensons waxed cotton canvas out of Scotland. they've been engineering waxed canvas since 1864, so we're confident to say they're experts in that textile field -- that's over 150 years!

our new Moto Collection is inspired by what many of those early pioneers of the sport actually wore, preserving some of the classic look and feel that we love, but with major upgrades in terms of fit and function.
pro•tec•tion /prəˈtekSH(ə)n/ [noun]:

the action of protecting, or the state of being protected.

every jacket in The Moto Collection comes standard with insertable - and removable -D30® CE protection armor. that's an abbreviation for "Conformité Européenne," which is a European motorcycle safety standard. we use D3O® CE Level 2 and Level 1 insertable + removable armor in all the jackets. it's D3O's most advanced breathable protection available, so we thought it was best we really ante'd up this time.

Awesome Jacket

"I received the Ranger jacket today, installed the armor on shoulder, elbow and back and then went on a 100 mile ride with it. What an amazing jacket. The quality is outstanding and the fit (XX-Large) and comfort is amazing. The shoulder and elbow armor stays where it's suppose to be and I can't even feel it. The jacket has more pockets than anybody will ever need. I love it!"

You can't go wrong!

"Just took my first ride in the Ranger. Awesome jacket! Unobtrusive armor. Great looking, well built, and comfortable. Loved the ease of taking the liner out for a summer ride."

Ranger Moto Jacket

"The Iron + Resin Ranger Moto Jacket is an absolute weapon. This thing isn’t just gear—it’s armor, style, and survival all stitched together. From 100° desert heat to biting winter winds, the removable quilted liner and REISSA waterproof/windproof barrier make it feel like you’re ready for any ride, any season. Slip it on and you instantly feel the difference: CE Level 2 back armor plus CE Level 1 in the shoulders and elbows gives you confidence without turning you into a stiff robot. It’s protection you can trust, not just marketing fluff. And the fit? Rugged but refined—exactly what you want when your bike is your escape. The storage is dialed in too. Plenty of exterior pockets that don’t bulge or get in the way, perfect for stashing gloves, keys, or whatever else your ride demands. Whether you’re carving through wet PNW switchbacks or hammering across dry desert highways, this jacket doesn’t flinch. Bottom line: the Ranger Moto Jacket isn’t just something you wear—it’s something you rely on. Built tough, looks sharp, rides harder. Worth every penny."

Almost Perfect - But Still a Keeper

"I was looking for something other than leather and not "black". While this is "vintage black" it looks a bit olive to me so I am good with that. The jacket itself is made very well. I have a 52in chest and usually wear a 2XL - I went to the store, tried on a 2XL and it was a little snug - thinking a 3XL, 55in, would do the trick, I ordered a 3XL online. It took a while to received - about 15 days from order to delivery - in fairness I did order on Jan. 1 so that could have delayed the processing. The jacket came with the armor in the box. I tried the jacket on without armor and it was a somewhat less snug fit across the shoulders than the 2XL - but workable. Being a cloth it will break-in and stretch. I put the armor in and a little snugger than I like but the reach to the bars is OK. Not quite as warm as I had hoped in would be with the quilted liner. I commute to work and in the mornings it has been mid forties and at 50-60 MPH a little chilly. Which is surprising because any other jacket that I have worn with a REISSA liner has been really warm. The jacket itself is finished really nicely - no strings hanging, smooth uniform appearance. The quilted liner has some thread hanging on some of the seams where the fabric was cut to shape and then sewed. Nothing drastic but thought it should be mentioned. The quilted liner zips in without any problem - the little tabs with snaps that hold the sleeves and body of the line in place a a pain. The loops are almost too small and take some fiddling to get the tab through and snapped. The REISSA Liner - as I mentioned, not as windproof or warm as I have experienced in the past. There are "gators" in the jacket sleeves that are a great idea but they snap closed instead of being elastic all the way around the waist. The extra snaps, the extra fabric of the jacket sleeve when you snap the sleeve closed and a large watch make the ends of the sleeves very bulky. The neck closure with a ratchet helmet strap can be a little irritating but, I don't use the neck closure - just throw on my silk scarf to keep wind out of my neck area. My biggest let down is ALL the interior pockets, jacket and liner, are too small. I can barely fit my wallet - so muck so I don't try to put anything in the interior pockets. I put my wallet in the upper left pocket - Great location because I have a key card for entry into my work parking garage- just lean towards the card reader and I am in. Like I said - little nits and picks - still a keeper."

Beautiful jacket!

"Jacket looks great! Fits a tiny bit large, I’m 5’11” 195 were a 42 sports coat and I ordered a large. It feels like it’ll probably be just right with a hoodie underneath. Can’t wait to see how it breaks in."

Perfect scrambler jacket

"Fits like a glove, but I knew I had to go up one size. I am 6’3 at 220 lbs. and ordered the xxl. Material feels awesome and super solid. Can’t wait to give it a ride in the cold weather. Looks is awesome, just what I had hoped for. Love the jacket! Scramblers here I come!"

"Just purchased a Ranger waxed jacket. Superb quality, great fit, and outstanding customer service. What a great company. I’ll definitely purchase from Iron & Resin again and recommend to friends."

The kids at Iron and

"The kids at Iron and Resin have created the near perfect riding jacket. Very well designed and constructed. It’s burly without being bulky. I’ve had it a couple of months and put it through its paces on the road. It handled all kinds of weather without fail. Good by the campfire too. The cut is classic and it fits true to size. Just enough room to layer a hoody underneath. Plenty of pockets in all the right places. This is what happens when riders create gear. Perfect."
