New Legend is known for their tasteful integration of new technology into a vintage aesthetic. it's a magical union that you don't really see on the road today. but, for this project, we wanted to keep it old school. because hey, who doesn't like old school, right?
there is something visceral and connecting about a well tuned vintage engine and gear box. the way the engine rumbles and the way the transmission clunks through the 4 gears. we're all about timeless style and quality built gear; so we wanted this Scout to have those qualities. to be a time machine... a durable, tough, beautiful timeless piece of automotive history.
this 1972 International Scout SSII is the end result of a vision that New Legend and our team have been dreaming about for a while. Baja has always been a dream destination to park one of these New Legend rigs. wide open trails, vacant point breaks, and nothing else to do except crack open ice cold cervezas. an adventurer's formula for absolute paradise. although we did not make it there yet with this new build, it's in the books. so what do we do? build a machine reminiscent of the Baja race trucks of the 70s. all business with removable soft doors, rear side windows and yet with a steel dome capable of carrying a tent, surfboards, or go fully topless. all while preserving that original patina. in all, this Scout was built for Baja - with genuine Scout SSII parts painstakingly gathered over the last 10 years. one other exciting part? New Legend 4x4 will be offering this rig up as a rental in the near future. that means you'll be able to take this awesome four-wheeler out on your next adventure. stay tuned for that!
